For the academic year of 2024-2025, I was the Vice President of the Japanese Cultural Association at Clemson. I helped lead the planning and execution of events that celebrate and share Japanese culture with our campus community. Alongside the executive board, I’ve helped organize a variety of activities such as our Tsukimi (moon-viewing) celebration where we made traditional dango, Japanese movie nights, origami workshops, and Jeopardy-style trivia events focused on Japanese language and culture. I support the president in coordinating meetings, managing logistics, and making sure events run smoothly. I also assist with outreach, social media promotion, and fostering a welcoming space for both new and returning members to connect over their shared interest in Japan.
During my semester at Chukyo University, I participated in Global Talk Hour, a language exchange program where I helped Japanese students practice and improve their English skills. Each week, we met in small groups and engaged in casual conversations to build their confidence in speaking English. Rather than staying in a classroom, we often went out together to places like local cafés, arcades, or restaurants, which made the experience more relaxed and immersive. These outings created a fun and natural environment for language learning, and I really enjoyed getting to know the students while sharing our cultures with each other.
