JAPANESE STUDIES AND EXPERIENCES
This page highlights my academic and personal journey with Japan through language study and cultural immersion. From foundational Japanese coursework at Clemson University to an enriching study abroad experience at Chukyo University, I have developed strong communication skills and a deep understanding of Japanese culture. Here, I showcase selected projects and experiences that reflect my language proficiency, cultural awareness, and how these skills shape my approach to international marketing and media planning. My connection to Japan fuels my passion for bridging cultures and creating strategies that resonate across global audiences.
STUDY ABROAD: LIFE IN JAPAN
I studied abroad in the spring of 2024, from March to August, at Chukyo University in Nagoya, Japan. During my time there, I took intensive Japanese language classes, as well as courses focused on international perspectives, including Global Media and Culture, Workshop in Intercultural Communication, and Global Business and Leadership. These classes not only deepened my understanding of Japanese language and society, but also gave me a broader view of how culture and communication intersect on a global scale.
While looking for some inspiration for my study abroad reflection, I kept coming across the same kinds of stories: how Japan “changed” people, how different everything was, how the culture shock was overwhelming, and how the experience was completely transformative. And I don’t think that this isn’t true for many people. However, it made me realize that my time in Japan felt… surprisingly familiar.

ACADEMIC WORK

5Sの重要さ
This essay, written at approximately JLPT N2 level, explores the 5S methodology, a Japanese workplace organization system emphasizing efficiency, cleanliness, and continuous improvement.
Through this work, I demonstrated not only my intermediate-advanced Japanese language skills but also my understanding of key business concepts rooted in Japanese culture. This combination of language proficiency and business insight supports my ability to engage with cross-cultural teams and contribute effectively to international media planning and marketing projects.
CAPCOM について
In this group project, I researched and presented on Capcom, focusing on its flagship game series, Resident Evil, and the company’s marketing strategies.
I independently designed the entire presentation, showcasing Capcom’s diverse game portfolio and emphasizing its global market impact. This project strengthened my skills in cross-cultural business analysis, media strategy, and professional Japanese communication, which are key assets for media planning roles that involve international brands.

インターンシップ報告
This internship report, written in Japanese, details my duties and responsibilities at two internships: Clemson University’s Office of Global Engagement and Upstate International.
Through this report, I demonstrated my ability to communicate professionally in Japanese about workplace experiences, while reflecting on cross-cultural work environments and organizational tasks. This experience highlights my language proficiency and understanding of global business operations, which are valuable assets for media planning roles involving diverse clients and markets.
OUTREACH
For the academic year of 2024-2025, I was the Vice President of the Japanese Cultural Association at Clemson. I helped lead the planning and execution of events that celebrate and share Japanese culture with our campus.
Alongside the President, I helped organize a variety of activities such as our Tsukimi (moon-viewing) celebration where we made traditional dango, Japanese movie nights, origami workshops, and Jeopardy-style trivia events focused on Japanese language and culture.
I also assisted with outreach, social media promotion, and fostering a welcoming space for both new and returning members to connect over their shared interest in Japan.
